Careers
St Paul’s overall careers objectives are:
- To provide students with up-to-date information and knowledge about careers;
- To promote high aspirations, to motivate and inspire students who are ambitious and well-informed about their future careers.
Careers Education
Careers Education is delivered through a variety of activities including tutor time activities, assemblies and a number of careers events for all our students.
St Paul’s Careers Plan is based on the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks for careers. The latest report is available to view under the Compass Report.
An important part of the plan is to provide students with access to impartial and independent careers advice. We have an advisor from Innervate Career Services in school, one day per week. For more information on Innervate please click here.
In Year 10 and Year 12, all the students have the opportunity to take part in a Careers Day which includes workshops on work experience, university life and apprenticeships. The event also involves a `careers speed session’ with exhibitors from national and local businesses attending. Our students are able to engage in small groups to find out information and learn about opportunities available to them.
After each careers activity, the students complete a questionnaire to review what they have learnt, and the school leavers' destination data.
If you or your company would like to become involved in our Careers Programme or Careers Day, please do get in touch.

Wednesday 12 March 2025 London School of Economics (LSE) Startup Competition St Paul’s Catholic College was delighted to host the London School of Economics (LSE) Startup Competition last Friday; the first time the event has been held here at the school. Twenty-four of our pupils from across Years 8 to 13 were chosen to take part in the event by watching and grilling the entrepreneurs themselves. The winning company, Harvest Value Chain, (who support farmers in Nigeria to harvest their crops more efficiently) was awarded a £6,000 grant from LSE and coaching for their business. Our students got to vote for the startup they thought was the best, which resulted in the drinks brand Dosha being awarded a £2000 grant from LSE. Thursday 13 June 2024 Careers Fair St Paul’s held its annual Careers Fair this week for year groups 10 and 12. This is always a popular event with many representatives from the public and private sectors in attendance, including ex-students and parents who came along to represent their employers. It was wonderful to see the St Paul’s community coming together for this event. Each pupil had the opportunity to talk to employers and further education institutions, all offering invaluable advice and information on the various pathways available to them. A huge thank you to everyone to who gave their time to speak to our students.
