I graduated from Middlesex University in 1999 having studied a BSc (Hons) in Hotel and Restaurant Management. In order to satisfy a wanderlust, I moved to Greece and undertook an extensive archaeological and historical ‘Classics’ tour (between April – September 2000). Following my teacher training in 2005 (PGCE), I taught for 16-years in private and public sector settings, respectively. My current and past experiences as Head of Business Studies, Careers Supervisor and Head of the PSHCEE curriculum have enabled me to garner an enhanced understanding of the importance of pastoral support for children on an academic, emotional, social and personal level. These valuable practices have aided me in becoming fully aware that the academic and pastoral sides of education cannot be separated from one another. Additionally, I pioneered the FGM programme in my previous school, bringing awareness to the issue and completed my MA in Education: Leading Innovation and Change from St Mary’s University in July 2019. I joined St Paul’s Catholic College later that year as a Business Studies teacher and Student Leadership Co-ordinator, and became Head of Year in March 2020, I am currently undertaking a National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL). |
